BYK-Gardner - worldwide partner of the automotive, paint and plastic industries for quality control of color, appearance and physical properties - is introducing the new spectro2guide, the revolution in color measurement.
Like its predecessor, the new spectro2guide combines color and gloss measurement in one instrument. Completely new, is the measurement of fluorescence to predict color stability.
Like a fluorimeter the fluorescent light can be detected using monochromatic illumination and for the first time ever an dEzero can be calculated to predict how the color will change when fluorescence has degraded.
This combination of a spectrophotometer with a fluorimeter opens up completely new perspectives to not only control color harmony, but also to analyze the color stability with measurement of fluorescence.
Beside the combination of innovative measurement methods, the spectro2guide uses innovative, high performance LED technology as light sources. Due to the outstanding performance of these LEDs, the short-term, long-term and temperature stability as well as a homogeneous illumination spot are unsurpassed in the industry. As a result, a superior accuracy and excellent inter-instrument agreement allow the use of digital standards.
This new high technology is complimented by its easy-to-use operation and handling. Because of its balanced and upfront design, the 3.5" color touchscreen is always in the right position and easy-to-read. A perfect premise for the icon-based menu, which allows an intuitive smart phone like operation and the integrated camera, that shows a live preview of the measurement area to ensure precise positioning and to prevent false readings on imperfections or scratches. As the first spectrophotometer on the market, the spectro2guide offers auto diagnosis and an automatic calibration function. Thereby, the white calibration standard is always protected and a reliable calibration is guaranteed. In addition, data transfer has never been easier or more flexible. The spectro2guide offers three possibilities: Via docking station or directly connected with USB cable or wireless with a Wi-Fi function.
Raise your expectations and get ready for the future!

BYK is one of the world’s leading suppliers in the field of additives and measuring instruments. Additives are chemical substances which, when used in small quantities, improve product properties such as scratch resistance or surface gloss. Manufacturing processes are also optimized by the addition of additives.
The coatings, inks, and plastics industries are among the main consumers of BYK additives. Yet with the production of oil and gas, the manufacture of care products, the production of adhesives and sealants, and construction chemistry, too, BYK additives improve the product characteristics and production processes. Testing and measuring instruments from BYK can effectively evaluate the quality of color, gloss, and appearance as well as the physical properties of paint, plastic, and paper products and are an important part of quality control.
As a globally operating specialty chemicals company, BYK has production sites in Wesel, Kempen, Moosburg, Schkopau and Geretsried (Germany), Deventer, Denekamp and Nijverdal (Netherlands), Widnes (UK), Wallingford, Chester, Gonzales, Louisville, Rochester Hills, Earth City (USA) and Tongling (China).
Today the company employs around 2,200 people worldwide and forms part of the ALTANA Group.
